Why So Many Network Marketers Fail

The author of the following is unknown to me, it's been passed around in various circles and in various forms for many years. I was just cleaning out one of my filing cabinets and came across it, so I figured I'd scan it and put it up here -- I think you'll find it helpful. In no special order...

  1. No written goals, direction or commitment. Jumps from program to program.
  2. Doesn't believe in and/or use the products or services they are selling.
  3. Wants to sponsor top producers instead of learning how to be one themselves.
  4. Gives up too soon. Usually quits in the first 3 months, instead of a year.
  5. Unorganized. Wastes too much time looking for things. Cluttered desk, etc.
  6. Spends too much time getting organized and too little time working.
  7. Only interested in personal profits. Doesn't care about customers or distributors.
  8. No answering machine. Can't easily be reached. Doesn't return calls promptly.
  9. Uninformed on how to succeed in network marketing, not serious about learning.
  10. Believes in rumors, doesn't check the facts, gullible, and can't think for themselves.
  11. Doesn't follow-up on prospects and customers. Doesn't show they care.
  12. Takes "No" personally. Gets discouraged by small problems and inconveniences.
  13. Lazy. Wants to reap the rewards of his/her downline's efforts without working.
  14. Doesn't read or keep up with the latest happenings in their program and industry.
  15. Doesn't handle customer or distributor complaints, but rather complains themselves.
  16. Doesn't recognize or praise downline achievers. Too self-oriented.
  17. Makes excuses. Doesn't realize that if others can succeed, they can too.
  18. Unrealistic expectations for the effort put forth. Doesn't work their business daily.
  19. Hangs around and is influenced by negative people, instead of the top producers.
  20. Too impatient. Wants to make big money too soon without being willing to work.
  21. Can't cope with changes from the company. Not flexible in thinking.
  22. Expects perfection from a new company without realizing that it takes time.
  23. Physically unfit. Lacks energy. Has an unprofessional appearance. No self-esteem.
  24. Doesn't strive to do their best. Doesn't plan to succeed. Often expects to fail.
  25. Most importantly, doesn't understand that: "If it's to be, it's up to me."
