Introduction to WWW Advertising
Ask any aspiring Webmaster or Internet marketer to identify the biggest
challenge facing our industry today, and you'll likely hear how hard it is to promote a
web site. Fortunately, a plethora of free web resources have emerged recently to help
you.
Most people log on to the Internet or one of the commercial online services for a reason,
usually it's because they're looking for something. While surfing aimlessly is a great way
to waste time at work, most people don't spend much time doing it.
Whether it be a listing of homes for sale in their area, stock tips or more information on
the latest money-making opportunities, the average person is normally looking for
something that interests them at that very moment. These are your prospects.
When the average Joe wants more information on something, 9 times out of 10 he'll go
straight to the World Wide Web. Focus your efforts there!
Everyone knows how to find and use a search engine or directory, I'd say that 50% or more
of 'Net surfers don't even know that newsgroups exist.
The only real 'secret' to successful online marketing is to be absolutely certain that
your sales material is available to those who are actively seeking what you offer, when
and where they're looking for it. Like I said, 9 times out of 10 this means the WWW.
I can assure you that there are more than enough people out there to make yourself a great
income marketing online. The trick is finding the ones who're interested in what we have
to offer and helping them to find you.
Do you know that there are literally thousands and thousands of places on the Web where
you can place your advertisement for free?
Some of these sites receive thousands and thousands of hits per day and some only a few
hundred, but that's fine too. Think about it. If you were to place your free advertisement
on just 300 web pages, what would that do to the number of inquiries you got every week?
Imagine if you placed your ad or link on 2,000 web pages? Sure it would take you a while
but believe me, it'd would be worth every minute. It's like bulk E-Mailing but ten times
better. You do the work one time and the inquiries keep coming day after day.
Set yourself a goal, 20 a day or more if you're ambitious. At this rate, it would only
take you about 3 months to have your link on 2,000 other web sites. Believe me, it would
be more than worth it as marketing on the 'Net is mostly a numbers game.
Each place that you go to list your site will have one or more pages of links to other
sites. Check these out. (If you find a good one, please let me know.) Follow these links
to lots of new places on the web that you can list with.
Sometimes, I will sit down to work a site from my list, and hours later will realize that
I have only worked one site from my list, but have found many more by just following the
links. You could advertise your site forever and never run out of sites to visit.
The other type of site submission is the free service sites. They will submit your listing
for you to a list of places after you fill in a form giving them the data that the search
engines and listing sites want. Again, there are several excellent services like this but
there is a basic flaw to the service they provide to the serious traffic builder.
They submit the same data to each and every site they submit to. It gives you no chance to
look around a site and try to find a message that will best motivate their audience to
want to come visit you. Targeted advertising is what words the best.
One technique that works extremely well is to use the multi-submission sites as a starting
point, and then re-submit to each site individually as time allows. The important ones
anyway. Actually, you should be resubmitting your URL to the top 10 engines every 2 weeks
or so.
